Kanye West has been banned from performing at the Haiti benefit telethon. Some of you may ask why however, most of you are probably familiar with Kanye's antics.
After Hurricaine Katrina, there was a telethon. Kanye West and Mike Meyers were talking about the devastation. Mike was talking about it in a general sense. Kanye started talking about how black people were being portrayed negatively and how much he was trying to contribute to the relief fund. Blah Blah. Around 1:33, Kanye makes one of his most famous statements, "George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People".
More recently when Beyonce and Taylor Swift were nominated for the same MTV Video Award, Kanye walked on the stage, took the microphone from Taylor and let America know that "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time...of all time". Needless to say, he's been laying low since then.
So, what people have been saying is that Kanye West has not been invited to perform for the Haiti Telethon because he will try to steal the spotlight, make the night about himself, and (my personal favorite) he cannot be trusted to read a teleprompter. I personally thought this was hilarious. When I thought about it, I would have been hesitant to invite him myself. Kanye already has 2 strikes against him (that we can easily recall).
But, this rumor is NOT true.
MTV said, “That’s absolutely not true. We DID reach out to Kanye.” But Kanye decided not to participate. And this may be for the best.
