Let us hope! Black sitcoms have had a long history of success on television, bringing in some of the highest ratings in television history with shows like "the Cosby Show" or "Family Matters". So where have they gone? Now, even if we get a new sitcom, they don't last for long. The top five longest running black sitcoms are "The Jeffersons" with 11 seasons; "Family Matters" with 9 seasons; "The Cosby Show" with 8 seasons; "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" with 6 seasons, and "Moesha" with 6 seasons.
Now the only black sitcoms I can think that are even out are "Meet the Browns", "House of Payne", and "Sherri". None of which are on a MAJOR NETWORK (i.e. ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox). So with all these stations putting out their 2010 lists of shows will any black sitcoms be added to the line up?

Well we all know by now that "the Game" will be back and I personally CANNOT effin wait. But Ice Cube is bringing a new show in the line up with TBS's "Are We Done Yet?". Sound familiar? That's because it kinda is. It is based off of Ice Cube's highly popular "Are We There Yet?" movie series.
The show stars some familiar faces like Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Essence Atkins (Half and Half). Will it be a success? Only time will tell. But for now, it is the only new black sitcom I can find in the 2010 lists of shows and it premieres next week.
I will be watching because maybe if enough us watch, they will bring back black sitcoms!
