Exclusive: Interview with Carlysia Levert

|


Some of know Carlysia from MTV's My Super Sweet 16, but most know her as the daughter of the Late, Great Gerald Levert. Well we recently had an opportunity to ask Miss Levert some questions and she is ready, willing and able to step out and make a name for herself in the music industry.

E&I: Thanks for the interview Carlysia. Let’s jump right into it. Most people remember you from MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, which yours was great by the way. What did you learn or take from that experience?

CL: No problem.... And thank you... I learned about reality television... How they can make you into the person they want you to be if you have no say so in the editing... lol... But it was great exposure on my part... I wouldn't take it back for the world... It was fun

E&I: I remember your performance on the show of “That’s What’s Up.” Now that you are getting your feet wet in the music industry, how has your music evolved since then?

CL: Well I have no music out right now... But as far as working more in the industry and as far as writing... It helped alot... I have been writing for a couple artist....

E&I: Coming from a musical family, do you feel any pressure about being in the industry?

CL: I don't feel pressure about being in the industry.. But I do know that with my family's musical background I have a name to live up to... And I'm reminded of that everyday

E&I: I know you want to continue the legacy your father left; do you plan on ever remaking or covering any of his songs and if so which one?

CL: Yes I do plan on paying tribute to my dad by covering a song of his... But when I do...I want it to be a surprise... So shhh... No telling** lol

E&I: What was it like growing up the child of a celebrity? Were there any perks or hardships?

CL: I grew up like a regular kid... with a couple perks here and there... I had hardships like everyone else... I mean it's great to be able to meet different celebrities and hang out with them... But I went to public school and I was raised to be very humble... No one knew who my dad was unless they new my last name! Or unless I was with him...

E&I: Do all the celebrity kids like hang out together? Which ones did you know growing up?

CL: Yes we hang out together... Well most of us... Cuz alot of us are around the same age... lets see I know like Aaron Reid (LA Reid Son) Kai Morae (LisaRaye's Daughter) Quincy (Al B Sure son) Ect. There are so many... I honestly cannot name them all

E&I: Which celebrities, or actually any persons in general, influence you and your style of music?

CL: KELLY PRICE! I absolutely LOVE her... I love Celine Dion n Whitney Houston... Chrisette Michele, Jennifer Hudson, Jazmine Sullivan... I think all of them have RAW TALENT

E&I: What can we expect from you in the future?

CL: To hear some new hawtt Music from me... And to rock with me... Im excited... I hope yall are... :)

E&I: Do you plan on attending college? And if so which? We are big fans of the HBCU experience!

CL: I did attend Spelman (HBCU :)) Then I attended Art institute of ATLANTA but I actually took a semester off... So I plan on going back in Fall! But I am thinking about another school!

E&I: Do you plan to branch out to acting? 

CL: Yes that is DEF. a possibility! I would love to ACT :)

E&I: What would be your ideal career path?

CL: MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC.

E&I: What do you want the world to know about Carlysia Levert?

CL: The Legacy Continues HERE! Have your eye's and ears on the look out!

E&I: Is Carlysia Levert single, dating?

CL: I am currently single :)

CL: You're a Jerk

CL: ummm... lol INDIAN!

CL: Drake All day

CL: hmm... FACEBOOK

E&I: Iphone or Blackberry?

CL: Iphone! Best phone ever

E&I: Last question, what do you hope people remember most about you father?
