As you go through your busy day, Let us not forget the tragedy that took place on American Soil a mere 8 years ago. Today marks the anniversary of 9/11, a day that will be etched in our memory like a bad Beyonce' song.
But seriously, I will never be able to forget exactly what I was doing that day. I was in my freshman year of high school(Go Blue Knights) and it was first period on a double day. What that means is that first period was twice as long. My first period was P.E. and the great teachers in that class thought it genius to take us to a golf driving range. Besides the fact that that was the exact time I realized I would never be the female Tiger Woods, it was a lot of fun. When we return to the school, every tv was on, every face glued.
The first plane had hit. At that time, I did not understand the full impact of what was going on. Actually, I don't think anyone knew. We believed it was a plane flying way too low and was an accident. That was until the second plane hit. School went to a stand still. Many cried, but all watched in dismay! I was sad for my country, and almost felt less American because while my country was at a stand still after the first plane, I was golfing and having fun. But as they called for an extra Pledge of Allegiance later that day, it was hard not to feel American, it was hard not to feel pride.
This was the first American tragedy to happen in my lifetime and Americans came together like I had never seen before. Though we may have had no loved ones killed that day, we wept for those who did, we wept for those who died.
This allstar tribute was done after 9/11.
